This is pure fluff and short but wanted to contribute to the challenge. I guessed at Elizabeth's age. Brenda is married to Jax. Sam is gone, Lucky's locked away and I think everything else is pretty much self explanatory. Hope you all enjoy.
As the elevator doors parted on the fourth floor of General Hospital, Brenda Jax stepped out. Her stiletto heels clicked and clanked against the well polished flooring as she headed towards the nurses station.
"Boom chicka chicka Boom" Brenda sang, a smirk gracing her painted lips. She propped her hip against the nurse's station and tapped her manicured fingers on it's counter top "Boom chicka chicka Boom"
"Yes" Robin peeked looking up from the charts in front of her
"I guess I should be singing Broom chicka chicka Broom. It was a broom closet right?" Brenda's laughter was loud and booming as the look of embarrassment washed across Robin's face
"Will you keep your voice down!" Robin scolded, quickly looking about to see if anyone may have heard
"One wouldn't think you'd be this moody after getting nailed by Dr. Hottie earlier today"
"I knew I shouldn't have called and told you!" Robin turned to hand the chart off to Lainey
"But let me guess. The sex was just so mind blowing that you had to call and tell someone!" Brenda knew she had hit the nail on the head when Robin's head whipped around
"Brenda!" Robin quickly walked out of the nurse's station and grabbed Brenda by her arm, yanking her into the waiting area
"Yeah, OK. You're brave enough to have hot and wild sex in the broom closet in the middle of the day at the hospital but you're embarrassed to talk about it?" Brenda teased
"First, it was a supply closet and secondly, I'm not embarrassed. I just don't want anyone to hear!"
"Ah, anyone like Dr. Hottie?" Brenda grinned wickedly
"You're impossible!" Robin racked her hands through her hair "Not just Patrick. I don't want my colleges to think something is going on between Patrick and I because there isn't. We are just having a casual fling and he is free to see whomever he wants to see. Besides, Patrick already has a big ego, I don't want to make it any bigger"
"Yeah. OK. Like I believe for one second that this is just a casual fling for you. You are such the smitten kitten."
"Why is it so hard for people to believe that I'm capable of just having sex with no ties?" Robin questioned
"Because, it's not you!" Brenda waved off the question and posed one of her own "So...is his ego the biggest thing on him?"
"Brenda Jax! You know I'm not going to answer that!"
"Oh I think you might." Brenda held up her pointer finger and thumb, make a small gesture "I mean you wouldn't want me thinking that your wild hot love doctor has an itty bitty..."
"It's big OK! There are you happy. Patrick as a big...." Robin stopped mid sentence and paled. Brenda's eyes were no longer trained on her. Oh no. Instead they were looking up...above her head..as if someone was towering over her and judging by the sinister smile that spread across Brenda's face, she knew exactly who Brenda was staring at
"Patrick"
"It's still not fair that I have to work here!" Lulu groaned for the tenth time in the last five minutes
"Good God Lulu" Emily huffed, filling the last of the little clear cups with medications. "You know that if you would have behaved yourself, your father wouldn't have made you get a real job. Thanks to Maxie losing her job, that left the position open for you."
"Who does he think he is though? I mean, come on. Look at the examples he sets. What does he expect from me?"
"Lulu, Luke just wants you to have a normal life and a bright future. Running around with Diego, stilling cars, and chasing married men aren't going to get those goals accomplished" Emily double checked the medicine before pushing the cart toward Lulu. "Besides, take it easy on Luke. With Lucky being in rehab for his drug addiction, he's going to be extra protective of you"
"Once again, I have to pay for something someone else did" Lulu knew she was acting like a spoiled brat but she didn't really care. She was not cut out to work at a hospital. Look who her parents were. She was supposed to be living a life of adventure, mystery and danger. Not a life of pushing a damn metal cart from room to room, handing out cups of water and pills.
"You've only been here a week. Give it a chance OK? You just might start to like it." Emily teased
"I seriously doubt that will happen"
Emily shock her head. The stubborn Spencer trait hadn't skipped Lulu obviously. After being silent for a minute, Emily thought it best to change the subject. "Have you seen Lucky lately?"
"I went to see him about three days ago. He looks bad but knows he has a problem now. He's going through the withdraw stages and it's so hard to see him like that. He's always been the big brother who I looked up to, could go to, but now, it's just not the same. He's really is sorry for all he put Elizabeth through though."
"I know it's hard. Lucky and I literally grew up together. I always thought him and Elizabeth had this unbreakable lock and they would be together forever. Funny how life and fate can change things in the blink of an eye"
"Like with you and Nikolas?" Lulu asked sensing the depth in Emily's statement
"Yeah" Emily sighed "When I married your brother, I truly believe with all my heart that it would last forever. That we would have kids and grow old together."
"Do you still love Nikolas?" Lulu pressed
"Of course. The kind of love I felt for him doesn't just go away. It's not something I can lock in away and pretend never existed."
"Then why can't you two find your way back?" Lulu asked. "I mean, you still love him, he still loves you"
"Sometimes love just isn't enough"
Elizabeth dumped the basket of clean clothes on the couch and began the task of folding and separating them. The small apartment was nearly silent, the only sounds filling the room were coming from the baby monitor that sat on the coffee table. Even though Cam was two years old, she still had to have that monitor on. It gave her a sense of comfort being able to hear him sleep. It soothed her to know that at least one of them was peacefully resting. Her life had been an emotional roller coaster over the past several months. The man she had married and promised to love for better or worst had turned to drugs instead of her. Turned to the commissioners daughter instead of his wife. The warmth and trust that he once regarded her with turned to bitterness and jealousy. Lucky became someone she didn't know and didn't want to know. Elizabeth had thought about her decision to leave Lucky long and hard. Weighed the pros and cons. In the end, she knew the choice she had to make. Not only for herself but for her son as well. A soft knock at her door brought her out of her thoughts.
"Hey" she smiled as she opened the door to find Jason standing there
"Hey"
"Come in" she moved to let him "Here, let me move these clothes so you can sit down."
Jason nodded and watched as she gathered up the clothes and tossed them back into the blue basket.
"I saw Nikolas at the hospital this morning and I asked about Sam" When Jason didn't say anything, she continued "He said she started school and was really enjoying Greece"
He simply nodded, knowing things between him and Sam worked out for the best. Sam had found her mother and instantly had a real family complete with sisters. She was the DA's daughter and no matter how much Sam tried to argue the point that Alexis's position wouldn't be a factor in their relationship, Jason knew it would. Him and Sam had danced around, taking one step forward, two steps back. They had argued and fought, begged and pleaded. But in the end, Sam let Jason walk away and went on with her own life.
"I ran into Justus earlier today. He um...came by the penthouse to drop off some contracts for me. He said he was on his way to see you"
"I haven't seen him today" Elizabeth sat on the small sofa, tucking her legs under her as Jason joined her
"I know. I told him I'd take care of things" Jason opened his leather jacket and pulled out an envelope. "I just thought it might make it easier if I gave you these, instead of Justus."
Elizabeth took it and opened it, not really needing to because she already knew what was inside. "Guess the whole third times a charm saying didn't apply to me uh? It was more like three strikes and your out"
"Elizabeth"
She waved a hand to stop him "It's OK. I mean a lot of 24 year olds have three failed marriages under their belts right?"
"Come here" he tugged her into a hug and she came willingly. Her lower body now stretched out as her chest and head molded into his warm body. Neither said anything for what seemed like forever. Jason just kept toying with her chestnut strands and rubbing small circles on her back.
She finally pulled back and peered up to look at him. "Don't you ever get tired of being the rock I lean on?"
"No" he answered honestly
"Why?" she inquired, her blue eyes searching his
He reached up and swept her bangs aside and tucked the long strands behind her ear. "Because your that to me. You're my rock. When Sam and I ended, you were the only one who I could talk to. You helped me through it and helped me keep my sanity."
"My constant rambling finally became good for something" she teased
"We didn't have to be talking. Just being with you, listening to you talk about everything going on in your life, took my mind of my problems. Whether it was watching you play with Cameron or taking shots at Jakes. Even when we weren't really close, you always seemed to be there. When grandmother died, then the baby."
He peered down at her, wanted to kiss her so bad but decided tonight wasn't the right time. There was no rush this time around. No significant others to complicate matters. As much as Jason swore he would never let anyone get close to him again, he knew it was a lie. Elizabeth knew that being his friend was just as risky as being the love of his life. Anyone would be able to see what they meant to each other, hell they always had. Elizabeth hadn't begged him to love her, hadn't begged him to let her in his life. It just happened. Their connection was so strong it was like a presence surrounding them. Maturity took the rough edges off what defined them, made them more accepting, more understanding, more aware. Jason pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. "I can't explain it. You know I don't believe in fate or luck. But something always seems to bring us back here"
"Yeah" she smiled "Here's a pretty good place"
